Estimate
Current Assessment
The latest located SEC filing shows Buffett with 196,290 Berkshire Hathaway Class A shares and 1,162 Class B shares after a May 2026 charitable gift. At May 29 market prices, those shares were worth about $139.86 billion. Buffett has said he has no debts and that his Berkshire A shares account for well over 99% of his net worth. A small allowance for non-Berkshire assets brings the base estimate to roughly $140.3 billion to $140.8 billion.
Key caveats
- The estimate changes almost dollar-for-dollar with Berkshire Hathaway’s share price.
- Non-Berkshire assets are not publicly itemized.
- Future charitable giving is not deducted until shares are transferred.
- A newer SEC Form 4 would supersede the share count used here.
Evidence gaps
- No audited personal balance sheet is public.
- No current itemized cash, securities, real estate or tax-liability schedule was found.
- No public evidence was found that updates Buffett’s June 2025 no-debt statement.
