Current Assessment
Lores earned around $20 million a year in recent HP CEO compensation and $23.1 million in his final fiscal year at HP. His new PayPal package is much larger on paper, but much of it is stock that has not vested, is deferred, or depends on future share-price targets. Those future awards are not counted as current wealth. The estimate mainly reflects after-tax retained wealth from HP salary, bonuses, and equity over a long executive career.
Key caveats
- Exact current HP and PayPal share ownership was not refreshed from SEC ownership filings.
- Reported compensation is not the same as realized after-tax wealth.
- Future PayPal equity awards could materially change the estimate if they vest and PayPal's stock performs.
Evidence gaps
- Current beneficial share ownership
- Insider sale proceeds and tax withholding history
- Private assets and liabilities
